Following reports that Turkish Airlines was selling tickets in dollars for travellers out of Nigeria, former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has warned against the practice.
Reports in some sections of the media earlier in the week said that the airline gave a directive to its partners to discontinue accepting naira payments for tickets.
However, the airline debunked the report, noting that no such directive was issued.
Nairametrics quoted an official of the airline as saying that they do not sell airlines in dollars as they are aware that it is an illegal activity.
Reacting to the report on Saturday, Shehu Sani tweeted, “Turkish Airlines want Nigerian passengers to purchase tickets in dollars.
“When the Turkish currency, LIRA crashed, foreign airlines in Turkey never asked for dollars.”
