The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has decried the level of debt accumulated by state governors across the country.
In a Wednesday morning Facebook post, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said he had before him the files containing the debt profiles of all the states and was shocked by the rate of their indebtedness.
According to him, the governors incur millions and billions as debt under the guise of using the money to bring development to their respective states but end up siphoning the funds into their private accounts.
Sani added that the masses, which should benefit from the supposed development for which the debts were incurred, only see the dividends when the governors hold weddings for their children or celebrate anniversaries of such marriages.
He said, “I have with me the files of all the states. They borrowed money in millions and in billions and Promised to build a paradise for the poor and their children; They leave behind a hell of a debt, and a Paradise the poor can only see on wedding days or marriage anniversary days of the children of their leaders.”
