The senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani has condemned the demolition of the office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction that suspended Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Sani made this known in a post on his verified Facebook and Twitter pages on Tuesday afternoon.
The office located at 11B, Sambo Road, Kaduna was demolished in the early hours of Tuesday under the supervision of heavily-armed soldiers and suspected thugs.
Known as the Kaduna Restoration Group, the faction led by Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi(APC – Kaduna North) on Sunday handed the governor a six-month suspension after a stakeholder’s meeting.
Another faction of the party loyal to the governor on Monday upturned the suspension, describing the faction that imposed the sanction as illegal and unknown to the national leadership of the party led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
Before it was converted to a parallel state APC secretariat last week, the one-storey duplex was said to belong to Senator Hunkuyi.
The official reportedly said that the building was originally earmarked for residential purposes not for political activities, hence its demolition.
Sani described the demolition as cruel and desperate, saying that bulldozers can only demolish structures and not the spirit.
He said, “The demolishing of the APC secretariat at Sambo Road stands unreservedly condemned.
“The Kaduna State Governor’s action is insane, despicable, cruel and desperate.
“Bulldozers can only demolish structures and not the spirit.
“We remain unshaken in our faith, our conviction , our position and our cause to uphold the constitutional rights and liberties of our people.
“The use of environmental laws to destroy the homes of perceived political opponents or to silence dissent is legendary in the tyrannical history of fascists and sadists.
“Power is ephemeral.Bulldozers,Thugs and Guns will not change in our position.”
