The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sani made his decision known in a resignation letter he sent to the APC Ward 6 Chairman, Tundun Wada North, Kaduna, TheCable reported.
This followed the senator’s failure to clinch the party’s ticket to return to the senate in 2019.
The APC had some days ago substituted Sen. Sani’s name for that of Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s political adviser, Uba Sani.
Although the party had initially announced its decision to give Sen. Sani and others automatic tickets, it later backtracked following repeated condemnation from the governor.
Despite belonging to the same political party, El-Rufai and Sani had maintained a frosty relationship, with the governor suing the senator earlier in the year for calling him a “drunk, a loose cannon and an embarrassment to President Muhammadu Buhari”.
