2 Min Read

Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central and Chairman House Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debts, paid N100,000 to offset the medical bills of the Kaduna Correspondent of People’s Daily Newspaper, Femi Oyelola that was knocked down by a car recently.

He also told the management of Saint Gerald’s Catholic Hospital to transfer him to a special ward for proper attention and promised to settle all expenses incurred.

The journalist was going for an assignment at Ungwar Romi when he was knocked down by a car on high speed.

Sani described Oyelola as a hardworking and refined journalist that should not be abandoned during this trying period .

He said in all societies across the world, journalists are special people that require special treatment considering the role they play as bridge builders.

According to him , that was why even when he was not formally informed about the unfortunate accident , he had no option but to visit him.

The Senator said , ” Nobody informed me about Femi’s accident ,but I saw on it on Facebook and I believe as a journalist , he should be properly taken care of .”

Earlier, the Senator had also freed another young patient, who has been ‘detained’ by the Hospital’s management due to his parents inability to balance the bills running into about N300,000. Other patients at Oyelola’s ward also got attention of the Senator who promised to assist in their various bills.
