Former senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has mourned the late erudite scholar, Prof. Umaru Shehu.
Sani confirmed the 92-year-old’s death in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.
The former lawmaker described the nonagenarian as an accomplished academic whose demise is a great loss to Nigeria.
Born on December 8, 1930, in present-day Borno State, Prof. Shehu was a distinguished Professor of Medicine.
“I heard of the sad news of the demise of Professor Umaru Shehu. An outstanding Professor of medicine from Borno State and Chairman of the Institute of Human Virology.
“An elder statesman and an accomplished academic. A great loss to our country.
“May Allah grant him Aljanna firdausi.Inna lillahi wainna Illayhir rajiun,” Sani said.
