Shehu Sani Expresses Displeasure As Super Eagles Struggle To Defeat Mozambique

2 Min Read
Nigeria Vs Mozambique

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, has expressed displeasure with the Super Eagles of Nigeria after the men’s national team struggled to secure a 3-2 victory over Mozambique.

The Herald reports that the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Mozambique 3-2 in a friendly match on Monday. Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka, and Moses Simon all scored for the team.

The Eagles prevailed in the match, which served as preparation for both the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

However, despite the victory, the former Kaduna senator still feels displeased with the outcome of the friendly fixture.

The Super Eagles have failed to emerge victorious in their last five friendly fixtures, failing to secure a victory against Saudi Arabia.

In a tweet via his official X handle, Mr Sani lamented that the Super Eagles are not performing up to par.

“Super Eagles are still not flying well in their friendly matches. What is really happening with our national team?” he asked.

Six minutes had passed when Francis Uzoho, the Eagles’ custodian, gave up a startling goal.

The ball rolled into the net due to a shoddy attempt by Uzoho, who had committed a gaffe in the team’s previous friendly match against Saudi Arabia the previous weekend.

However, Moffi’s equaliser in the 18th minute and Onyeka’s goal for the Eagles in the 29th minute saw Nigeria come back from behind to win.

Both teams continued to strive for more goals, and in the 40th minute, Edmilson’s red card brought Mozambique down to 10 men.

Simon’s penalty kick in first-half added time gave Nigeria a two-goal advantage.
