The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari over the current political situation in Kaduna.
According to Sani, political players have turned the state into a hotbed of “atrocious hate speeches” under the guise of political campaign.
He added that the political elite were using the media to exploit religious and ethnic fault lines to their political advantage without minding the effect on the peace and stability of the state and the nation.
The senator said Buhari, security agencies and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) must call the “vendors and their masters to order” before the situation could boil over.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Sani said, “What is happening in Kaduna is not political campaigns but atrocious hate speeches and flagrant religious incitement, encouraged by those who positioned themselves to profit from it. The President,Security agencies and the NBC must call the vendors and their masters to order.”

The senator added, “The corrosive and combustible agents against our peace and unity as a nation remains the exploitation and manipulation of religion and ethnicity by the ruling reactionary political elites to achieve immediate political objectives; and set the stage for deeper irredeemable psychological and physical desecration and destruction of the people and the society.”
