Chinese Club, Shanghai Shenhua are open to allowing Odion Ighalo to remain at Manchester United until January.
Border restrictions may prevent Ighalo from returning to China in time for the start of the new season in June. If he can’t return, the club might have to bring in a temporary replacement.
It has been reported that Shanghai Shenhua will allow Ighalo’s loan deal to be extended as far as January, but only if the player ties down his future in China until 2024 in a deal worth £400,000 a week.
The striker is currently under contract until 2022 in Shanghai but the club are desperate to top his deal up with a further two years.
Ighalo’s agent Ladi Salami told FootMercato: “On the one hand, the Super Eagle [Nigerian] feels very good in Manchester with which it is very close to a salary agreement.
“Negotiations with the Chinese are ongoing and are going well.
”On the other hand, in view of the latest regulations in force in the Middle Empire, it is almost impossible to offer such amounts.”
