Shanghai Shenhua are confident Didier Drogba “will stay in China” despite speculation he could seal a move away from the club in January.
Drogba, 34, has been training with his former club Chelsea in order to maintain his fitness during the off-season in China ahead of next month’s African Nations Cup.
Juventus are said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international, but, as Drogba could be on international duty in South Africa for up to four weeks, they are unconvinced a deal would be worth their while.
ESPN understands Shanghai Shenhua are optimistic of retaining the striker’s services, as rival clubs are unlikely to match his £200,000-a-week wages.
Juve remain keen to bolster their frontline and could instead move for Robert Lewandowski or Fernando Llorente, who are both said to be targets for a number of Premier league clubs.
