Shanghai General Motors must recall 2.16 million vehicles because of engine problems, a Chinese safety watchdog said on Thursday.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement.
“The recall includes some 834,000 Buick Excelle vehicles, 1.1 million Chevy Cruzes, 159,000 Chevy Epicas and 18,000 Chevy Aveos,’’ AQSIQ said.
The statement said that the problems concerned valves in the engine, which may corrode.
Report says Shanghai GM is a joint venture between the General Motors Company and SAIC Motor that manufactures and sells Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac brand automobiles in mainland China. (dpa/NAN)
