EXPOSED: Former SGF, Lawal, Awarded Contracts To Himself -Witness

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Babachir Lawal, who is currently under trial has been exposed by a witness to have awarded contracts to firms belonging to himself while in office.

 

Lawal is facing a 10-count charge, alongside Hamidu David Lawal, his brother, Sulaiman Abubakar, Apeh John Monday, Rholavision Engineering Limited and Josmon Technologies Limited, over an alleged diversion of funds and criminal conspiracy to the tune of over N500 million.

 

His trial, which is before Justice Jude Okeke of the High Court Federal Capital Territory, continued with the examination-in-chief of the fourth prosecution witness.

 

The fourth witness, Among Ahmed, who is a principal procurement officer in the office of the SGF, exposed the former SGF during his testimony, saying that Josmon Technologies Limited and Rholavision Engineering Limited, which were linked to the former SGF, were awarded contracts.

 

According to him, the two companies, bid for projects at the office of the SGF alongside 108 other companies.

The judge adjourned the case to March 10, 2020, on the application of the prosecution counsel, Offem Uket, who requested time to allow the prosecution produce vital documents to the court.
