Nigerian songstress Seyi Shay is facing a heavy backlash for saying Coronavirus pandemic is not as deadly malaria and typhoid fever.
The ravaging COVID-19 which has recorded a rising death toll of over 8,000 people was declared a pandemic last week by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Countries like US, Canada, France, Ghana have shut down airports and borders in an attempt to contain the virus.
However, Seyi Shay earned herself heavy backlash after tweeting COVID-19 is not as deadly as malaria. The Irawo Artiste further insinuated that the virus was only ‘Jedi mind tricks’.
She tweeted:
Im also saying that Covid-19 is apparently NOT even as deadly as common influenza to the average healthy person ! But u will not go and study, reserach, seek knowledge listen to real fucking news! Just jumping on wagons and excited to be a part of ‘Jedi mind tricks’ awon werey!
Nigerians did not hesitate to troll Seyi for making such ‘outrageous’ claims on social media.
