Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has been suspended by the institution as investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and molestation against him continues.
Recall that some female placard-bearing students of the institution protested against the professor’s alleged nefarious activities on Monday.
Some of the placards bore inscriptions like “We are tired of sucking dick”, “Ndifon must go for our sanity”, “We are tired of buying law journals”, “We are tired of lecturers not attending classes”, and “Law girls are not your bonanza; Prof. Ndifon should stop grabbing us”.
On Tuesday, the university’s spokesperson, Eyo Bassey, said the school management had met with the aggrieved parties.
On Wednesday, the authorities of the institution began a probe into the allegations against the embattled don.
In a Thursday letter signed by UNICAL Registrar, Gabriel Egbe, the university said Ndifon has been suspended.
The university said his suspension followed his response to a query earlier issued to him by the university management which the Vice Chancellor was dissatisfied with.
According to the letter, the suspension takes immediate effect.
