Despite being aware of a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, popular American RnB star Chris Brown, failed to show up in Paris to defend his innocence in a case of sexual assault filed against him.
A French lady had claimed that the music star, his friend, and another bodyguard, raped her when she visited them in one of Paris’ topnotch hotel in January.
Although, they were questioned at the time, Chris brown and the other accused persons were permitted to leave the country without any charge whatsoever.
Yet, the accuser continued to press charges, prompting the police to issue a confrontation meeting between her and Chris Brown.
In her reaction to his nonappearance, the lawyer representing the complainant, Gloria Allred, stated that the musician’s actions were not acceptable.
She lamented, “Why did he fail to come today? Does he think that he is above the law in France? Does he think that the French criminal justice system is a joke?”
Gloria seem to be particularly interested in getting justice for sexual abuse victims as she has represented a few women in the past.
Some of the high profile cases she has handled include that involving another popular American musician, R Kelly.
Expressing her disappointment further, the lawyer stated, “Did he learn that I was coming to Paris to support my client?” Allred said outside the court. “Was he afraid of me? And is that the reason that he chose not to show up?”
Chris Brown has had several legal battles in the past, the most prominent one being an assault case with Rihanna, his one-time lover.
