#SexForGrades: Former VC of Covenant University identifies lack of fear of God as root of all evil

2 Min Read

Professor Charles Ayo, who is the former Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State has come out to say that the cause of unruly behaviors carried out by University Male lecturers, is a sign of indiscipline and lack of fear of God.

This was disclosed by the professor during an interview with Newsmen in Ota, on Tuesday.

This story brings back memories from last year, relating to Professor Richard Akindele, a lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who was sentenced to six months imprisonment for same offence of ‘sex for marks’ scandal in 2018.

Charles said that the behavior of the lecturers are unacceptable, as they are supposed to act as parents to the students, instead of molesting female students for sex.

He said, “Lack of discipline by the lecturers and the way some of the students dress are reasons for their molestation,”

Charles went on to say that the request for sex to obtain grades is a major cause of the decapitating standards of the education system in the country.

Ayo stressed the need to begin to preach morals in the country and blamed the total loss of cultural and social values for the slide resulting in sex for marks in the tertiary institutions.

He also urged students to dress appropriately, saying “the way you dress is the way you will be addressed by others.’’ He further advised students to know their rights to avoid being molested by anyone.
