Senate President, David Mark, on Friday urged the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that service to Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences must be paramount during his administration.
Mark said this during the thanksgiving Mass ahead of the end of the 7th Senate at St. Mulumba Catholic Chaplaincy, Apo in Abuja.
He said “What the nation needs now is genuine reconciliation of all sections of the country and not otherwise.
“What must be paramount is the service, welfare and security of Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.
“There is no need to be desperate for power, since power comes from God. Once we acknowledge this, we will not be at each other’s throat.”
Meanwhile the All Progressives Congress National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has told Saturday Punch that the party has no preferred candidate for senate presidency.
Mohammed said “As of today, as I am speaking to you, the party does not have a preferred candidate. Like in every political contest, all those who are qualified and are interested are free to campaign to their colleagues and we cannot stop them.”
