Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has made an incredible claim: Sergio Ramos has made more defensive errors or mistakes than him
The Croatia international also reiterated his claim that he is one of the best defenders in the world today.
He initially made the claim after the world cup, drawing ridicule from all angles, but he has stated that he’s sticking to what he believes in, which is that he’s one of the best.
Speaking with Copa 90, Lovren claimed that the stick he receives from fans is unfair and that the Real Madrid defender makes more mistakes.
“People always catch you on these mistakes, they don’t look [at the] good things,” said Lovren
“Sometimes I think I don’t deserve the hate, I would say.
“If you look, Ramos, he has many more mistakes than me. But he’s at Real Madrid. When you do a mistake, but you win 5-1, 5-2, nobody sees the mistake. You know what I mean.
“I’m, like, quite unlucky. When I make the mistake it’s 1-0 and finish. But like I said, I carry on.”
Lovren was asked about the best defenders in the World at the moment and he claimed that he rates Ramos’ defensive partner, Rafael Varane, over the Spaniard.

“Virgil [van Dijk], I would say, because we had a great season,” he said.
“Me and him, we reached the final of the Champions League. I would say Varane, he deserves a lot of credit. But I think he doesn’t get it as much. Ramos gets it and I don’t agree with that.”
On whether Varane was better than Ramos: “Definitely. For me, at this moment and previous years, yeah.”
Reiterating his claim to be one of the best defenders in the world, Lovren clarified that he didn’t mean he was the World’s best, just that he was among them going by his form last season
“I said one of the best. I never said: ‘I am the best’,” he added. “I always said one of the best. It can be five. But definitely this season.
“When you look, tell me a player who played in the Champions League final and then a month later in the final of the World Cup?
“I am the second after Thierry Henry. I was searching for that information in the Premier League. Yeah, I agree, I didn’t win, but I still think I deserve the credit.”
