Senator Kabir Marafa representing Zamfara Central at the Senate on Saturday donated 1,000 bags of assorted grains to the victims of gunmen attack in the state.

The lawmaker handed the donation, including a cash donation of N2 million to the state government in Gusau for onward delivery to the victims.

He expressed concern about the continued attacks on innocent citizens particularly in his constituency.

While commending both the state government and the Federal Government for bringing immediate support to the victims, he promised to discuss the matter before the National Assembly to bring the attacks to an end.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the state government, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Sanusi Kwatarkwashi, thanked the lawmaker for the donation.

Kwatarkwashi told Marafa that more than 400 persons including women, children, the aged and some of their animals, were camped at the facility in Gusau by the state government.

He said all the victims had escaped from the three villages of Kelele, Falale and Mutunji in Maru Local Government Area of the state after invasion by the gunmen.

The executive secretary appealed to other well-to-do individuals and organisations within and outside the state to also support the victims.(NAN)
