Senate President Ahmed Lawan says Nigerians should not hesitate to vote out every member of the Ninth Senate in 2023 if they no longer like their faces.
He said that this was better than scrapping the Senate, which he said some people have been rooting for.
Lawan spoke Friday in Abuja while declaring open a retreat for top management staff of the National Assembly and National Assembly Service Commission.
The Senate President warned that there could be anarchy if the Senate was scrapped as being advocated by some people.
He said that unlike the House of Representatives, the Senate was a leveler that allowed each state equal representation in the National Assembly.
Lawan noted that many people pushing for the scrapping of the Senate cited the alleged jumbo pay collected by each senator.
However, the Senate President noted that the total budget of the National Assembly was not up to 1 percent of the nation’s 2021 budget.
