The Senate has confirmed the Kaduna State nominee, Abbas Balarabe, who collapsed during his screening on Wednesday as minister.

They also confirmed Dr. Jamila Ibrahaim and Ayodele Olawande who were nominated as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively.

There was confusion earlier in the Senate when the nominee who replaced the former Kaduna State governor and one-time FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai collapsed during his screening on Wednesday.

Balarabe who was the second nominee undergoing screening after Ibrahim collapsed within about 15 minutes into his screening at the Senate plenary.

Balarabe was, therefore, taken to the National Assembly clinic where he was given medical attention.

After presenting his profile to the senators, Balarabe received an endorsement from the Kaduna lawmaker, who stated that all three senators from the state gave validation to his nomination.

The Senate, who went on a 45-minute break after the incident, upon returning confirmed the three nominees.

The names of the nominees were sent by President Bola Tinubu and read by the Senate on Tuesday.

Although his Ministerial portfolio is still unknown, Balarabe is a former Secretary to the Kaduna State government who led the 65-man transition committee of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.
