Ex-NIMASA DG, Dr. Dakuku Peterside

Senator George Sekibo, Chairman of the Senate Joint Committee on Navy has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest for the Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dakuku Peterside after he failed to appear before the Senate.

According to a report by Vanguard, the committee is probing N263.89 billion illicit funds used for illegal Security services, a Safe Anchorage project executed by the Ocean Marine Solutions Limited (OMLS)

Dakuku who failed to appear at the Senate was represented by NIMASA legal officer, Mr. Haruna Argungu.

However, Argungu was marched out of the session, as he was not the man with the answers to the questions they were seeking.

Dakuku’s absence became known to the Senate after Sekibo called out a list of different heads of Marine Transport agencies who were also summoned to the National Assembly.

Sekibo was furious to discover Dakuku was absent even after the hearing was postponed to that date to enable him appear before the Senate.

“The investigative hearing was supposed to have been held earlier but shifted to allow Peterside and other key players in  Marine Transport to attend the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) conference which took place in London.”

“It is annoying that after that grace given to him, he still refused to appear before us.” fumed Sen. Sekibo
