The Senate has expressed concerns over alleged inaccuracies in the 2018 budget submitted to the National Assembly by the executive arm.
At the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, the Senate said the budget document presented by President Muhammadu Buhari before the joint session of the National Assembly some months back contained a lot of inaccuracies and appeared to have been padded, Vanguard reported.
In the same vein, the legislators berated the executive over poor implementation of the 2017 budget.
Recall that controversies over the 2017 budget had led to the suspension, for one legislative year, of former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin.
The upper chamber has therefore suspended plenary for two weeks to enable ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) defend their budgets before relevant committees of the National Assembly.
