Sen. Ali Wakili, representing Bauchi Southern Senatorial District, on Saturday distributed 1, 800 bags of assorted fertiliser to people of his constituency.
Wakili, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation made this known at his Bauchi GRA residence while launching the distribution.
He said that the gesture was from his constituency allowance to enable the people, who are farmers to boost their food production.
“We are doing it in phases, as I said earlier, this is the outreached from the Federal Government, this is what we called constituency allowances and some of us thought that we have to embark on agriculture.
“When the 2016 budget comes we are going to do some human development and other things.
“This is not from my pocket, last time we met here I told you the boreholes, the medical laboratory kits, the computer centres, I am paying for it from my pocket.
“This is Federal Government budget through the instrumentality of Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority.
“The Federal Government gave closed to N30 million through upper Benue to procure fertiliser and other inputs like pesticides, which will be shared later.
“As a Senator, the whole money allocated for my constituency allowance is not more than N120 million and N130 million,” Wakili said.
He said that the current consignment consisted of 1, 800 bags of Urea and NPK that would be shared to APC stakeholders, past leaders, state and national executive officers from Bauchi south.
Wakili named other beneficiaries as: APC leaders in seven local governments from Bauchi south, his campaign directorate, all aspirants and nine members from the state assembly.
According to him, we are trying to make the party an all inclusive party, even the opposition party we have 40 bags for them as well as the defunct parties we have made provision for them.
The senator announced that his wife would commence distribution of fertiliser and other items to women within the constituency soon. (NAN)
