Selfishness caused APC’s guber loss in Kano – Abdullahi Adamu

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has blamed selfishness for the party’s loss in the March 18 gubernatorial election in Kano.

Adamu said this in an interview with BBC Hausa on Wednesday.

Recall that Abba Yusuf of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) defeated incumbent Deputy Governor and candidate of the APC, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna in the gubernatorial election.

Adamu said that before the election, the APC was confident of victory in Kano.

”Kano is among the states that we beat our chests and said that this is ours, because whatever we do, Kano is at the top of our list.

“But because of selfishness, we found ourselves in this situation. We shouldn’t have lost Kano, but everything that happened to a person, God knows.

“We had warned all APC governors in Nigeria to do away with any form of selfishness before the election, and we think it is that selfishness that led us to lose in a state like Kano,” the APC chairman said.

He said that the party lost the state because some people did not do what was expected of them.

Adamu said that such persons would face disciplinary action at the appropriate time.

The APC chairman expressed confidence that the supplementary elections in Adamawa and Kebbi would favour the party.
