The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator Abe said the Minister of Transportation and Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi, humiliated him by telling him not to contest in the presence of his wife.
The Senator and former governor had been at loggerheads in the state, leading to a party crisis within Rivers APC.
This has resulted into two factions of executive emerging within the party, each representing the interests of Magnus Abe and Amaechi.
According to Senator Abe, the actions of Amaechi in Rivers APC may hinder the party from winning the governorship and state assembly elections in the state come March 2 as announced by INEC.
The Senator accused the former governor of running a one-man show as party leader in the state.
“My grievances with the transportation minister has nothing to do with him supporting me or not. I have told him clearly that he is free to support who he wants. My disagreement with him is that he said I should not run, and I said I would run.
To come to my house, call me in front of my wife and tell me not to try contesting was the height of it. I said no, I would not accept, I would contest.” He said.
