A billionaire’s art collection is expected to be sold for a whopping, and unprecedented, $500 million by foremost auction house Sotheby’s of London.
Last week, 200 art objects of the estate of billionaire Alfred Taubman, who was once chairman of Sotheby’s, grossed $419.7 million.
While 77 of the higher net objects grossed $377 million on Wednesday, 123 lower net objects pooled $42.7 million on Thursday.
This means that there are still 300 objects in the collection still to be put up for sale.
Sotheby’s were said to have guaranteed the sale will fetch $500 million dollars, just so they could beat rivals Christie’s to the right to sell the collection.
But analysts say the company may lose heavily if it fails to make the guaranteed figure.
On a lighter note however, we bring you the 10 highest-grossing art objects in Taubman’s collection.
