School proprietress solicits FG’s support for private schools

2 Min Read

Mrs Blessing Sani, the Proprietress of Ametrine International Basic Technical Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, has pleaded with the Federal Government to support the development of qualified private schools across the country.

Speaking during the school’s Cultural Day on Saturday, she solicited special funds to be set apart for the development of approved private schools, especially schools with a bias for technical education.

According to her, such funds will be accessed with strict compliance with the terms and conditions that may be given by the Federal Ministry of Education.

She observed that such intervention would create more schools to train children in primary and secondary schools.

She called on parents, guardians and teachers to inculcate Nigerian cultures in their children, observing that cultural values had suffered neglect among pupils and students.

“Respect, for instance, is one of the most vital parts of the Nigerian culture; Nigerian children should be respectful and obedient to elders and their superiors.

“Another important aspect of culture is food, they should be familiar with Nigerian food and how they are prepared while children should be taught the etiquette of eating.

“Our children should also be taught how to dress modestly not by imitating other foreign cultures because Nigerian culture is richer in dressing,’’ she said.

Sani said Ametrine International Basic Technical Academy placed a premium attention on these values and academic excellence of its pupils and students.

The highlights of the events included cultural dance among the pupils from different ethnic groups and the display of various Nigerian diets.(NAN)
