Some weeks ago, the news was all over the media that Cristiano Ronaldo had bought a €19 million Gulfstream 200 jet.
The jet, which could accommodate 8 passengers, is said to be equipped with the latest high-tech gadgets money can buy.
However, what you have probably not heard is that the Portuguese star bought the jet from a defence and technology multi-national, Indra, or, more appropriately, Indra’s president Javier Monzon.
El Mundo has reported that Indra’s board of directors wasn’t aware that the firm even had the jet, or that it had been reserved for the exclusive use of Monzon, who had been president of the organisation since its inception in 1993.
It was from Monzon, and not Indra, that Ronaldo reportedly bought the jet.
The Portuguese newspaper that first reported that Ronaldo had bought the jet, Correio da Manhã, said Indra’s board of directors by a unanimous decision sacked Monzon over the issue, accusing him of “lack of transparency”.
