SARS Take Down Group Of Kidnappers In Katsina State

A group of specialised criminals who targeted people and kidnapped them for ransom has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command on Saturday.

Police recovered many weapons from the syndicate including one AK-47 rifle with breach number 4181.

Gambo Isah, command’s spokesperson, stated the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) apprehended the suspects on April 17 in Kaliyawa-Mahuta village, Dandume Local Government Area.

The suspects are Muntari Jibrin, 25; Dabo Hassan, 60; and Abdullahi Samu, 20, are all from Rugar Dabo in the Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Others include Tukur Mamman, 20 (Faskari LGA, Katsina); Babangida Saidu, 27 (Tsafe LGA, Zamfara) and Ishaka Yusuf, 20 (Sabuwa LGA, Katsina).

Among the items recovered was one AK-47 rifle with 19 rounds of ammunition; two locally-made rifles, four empty magazines, one set of military camouflage, one jacket containing charms and one face mask.

The police spokesperson added, “The suspects have confessed to various armed robbery/kidnapping incidents along the highways in Zaria, Kaduna State and Funtua, Sabuwa and Dandume LGAs of Katsina State.

“Investigation is underway with a view to arresting other members of the syndicate and recover more of their operational weapons. They will be charged to court immediately investigation is completed.”
