Sarri Reveals Why He Hasn’t Played Victor Moses Yet

2 Min Read

Nigerian winger, Victor Moses, looked set to have a bad time at Chelsea and become only a bit-part player, that is, until Antonio Conte came around.

Under the Italian tactician, the Nigerian played a huge role in securing the Premier League title as Conte favoured a 3-5-2 formation in which Moses was played as a right wing-back.

In this role, he excelled with a string of excellent performances and was with little or no competition.

Then Sarri came in

The new coach has changed Chelsea’s formation to a 4-3-3 and in this system, Moses has been told he’ll be played as a winger.

Sarri stated that the Nigerian would need to improve to get regular game time.

Chelsea currently boast of the likes of Hazard, Pedro and Willian on the wings and they are all ahead of Moses who isn’t as skillful as the trio.

Speaking at the Press conference ahead of the game against Bournemouth, Sarri said of Moses: “Because he changed the position on the pitch last season he played [at right wing-back], and now we want him to play like a winger,”

“We changed the position and, in the new position, he needs to improve. But it’s only a question of time, I think.”

Chelsea have won all their three games and will hope they can keep it up against a Bournemouth side that is also yet to taste defeat in the league and will be hoping for a major scalp this weekend.
