Saraki mourns Kuforiji-Olubi

2 Min Read

The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, on Monday mourned the late Mrs Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, a former Minister of Commerce.

He described her as an accomplished administrator who discharged all her duties with passion, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Yusuph Olaniyonu, said in a statement.

Saraki said, “it is sad that our dear mother has taken her final journey at age 80; the purpose-driven life she led would continue to inspire present and upcoming generations, particularly women.

“In her humble way, she proved that women can attain the zenith of their career if only they can dare to dream and set out to realize their dreams.”

The president of the Senate said Kuforiji-Olubi was “a personality of my firsts’’.

He noted that she was the first female president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and first woman in sub-Saharan Africa to serve as chairman of a leading financial institution, UBA.

He prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal bliss.

Saraki also commiserated with her immediate family, the people and government of Ogun and urged them to be consoled by the fact that she lived a life of achievements worthy of emulation.

Kuforiji-Olubi died on Saturday. (NAN)
