Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has congratulated the Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara on his election, Saraki also urged both chambers to form a collective national agenda that will move the nation forward.

Saraki in a statement said “The country is waiting on us to take it to the next level through people-oriented legislation.
Above all, let national interest be uppermost in your new leadership role, especially in making laws that would bring the greatest good to greatest number of our people. We have been called to leadership at a critical time in our nation’s history.

“We are besieged by insurgency, unemployment, dwindling economic fortunes and a massive infrastructural deficit.

“These challenges are urgent and require that we find ways to forge a collective national agenda, a minimum deliverable legislative intervention that we must fast-track to help underpin the policy direction of the executive and give a new lease of life to our people again.”

Meanwhile Dogora, when members from Adamawa, Gombe and Katsina states visited him also asked for togetherness in the house.

He said “We must come together to bring about stability and unity in the House, so as to make the achievement of the President’s policies a reality by facilitating speedy enactment of legislation that will help him to govern well.

“Those of us from the North must do more to ensure that we provide the needed leadership by making sure that our party succeeds because, if we bicker and let the President fail, then it is we who have failed.”
