Sanwo-Olu Arrested for Spending Fake Dollars- Ambode Goes on the Offensive

2 Min Read

Underfire Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has taken the fight to his political opponent Mr. Jide Sanwo-Olu

The Governor called an emergency press conference in Alausa, Lagos state where he has gone on the offensive against the man who could go up against him in the APC primaries.

Ambode took the smear campaign route, saying that Sanwo-Olu was mentally unfit to govern Lagos and even going as far as to say he was arrested by the United States Government for spending fake dollars.

While not explicitly mentioning names, it was quite clear who the Lagos Governor was going for even adding that he had undergone rehabilitation at the Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos.

“We have never responded to the campaign of calumny on social media. We have one family in APC. The aspirant being put up to compete against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job,” Ambode said

“I have done everything in the last three and half years to serve people selflessly and to serve the poor. This particular aspirant is someone who has been arrested for spending fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he was detained for months.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. We don’t want to go to far. Our leadership should have a rethink.

“I plead with our leaders to have a rethink, It is not about me, it is about the opportunity that APC has.”

Whether this last-ditch attempt by Ambode to curry favour will make any difference or not remains to be seen, but with the postponement of the APC primaries in Lagos, the incumbent has a little extra time to rally the troops to his side.
