The dethronement of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, is presently setting social media on fire.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, made the announcement during the state executive council meeting.
He added that a new Emir would soon be appointed.
“The Kano State Executive Council has unanimously approved the dethronement of the Emir of (Kano) Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II at a special sitting held today by the council,” Director-General, Media and Communications, Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai disclosed in a viral tweet on Monday.
Recall that the ex-Emir was Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) between 2009 and 2014, when he was suspended by the administration of then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
In January 2014, he alleged that $20 billion of oil wealth was unaccounted for between 2012 and 2013. He accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of diverting the money.
But an audit report by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) showed that $20 billion did not go “missing” as claimed, although the report did raise some questions, including failure of NNPC subsidiary, Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) to remit $1.48 billion to the Federation Account.
Many observers believe the accusation helped foil Jonathan’s second-term bid in 2015.
Since the announcement of his dethronement, some critics of the ex-CBN governor have been bashing him for helping to bring President Muhammadu Buhari to power.
Some of the critics include ex-social media aide to Jonathan, Reno Omokri.

Last year, I said everyone who falsely accused @GEJonathan, would pay for it. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is a liar and a manipulative individual, who deliberately lied against GEJ to facilitate the election of General @MBuhari. He has his Buhari. Is he happy?https://t.co/0dJ1j4OO3c

I know Sanusi will either go for a course at Harvard or start giving speeches at Chatham House or TEDx conferences, I wish him well. He has never been a powerful man, but he is undoubtedly great at being an opportunist.
It is God alone who judges; he decides who rises or falls.

All those who ganged up against Goodluck Jonathan with malicious lies and politically-induced hatred have somewhat paid for it or still paying.
Nigerians are paying the price, Political heavyweights who crossed over are paying the price, Sanusi Lamido is paying his own price.

Breaking News: King Ganduje dethrones Emir Sanusi.
Me: I am very happy about this development, Tyranny and Lies have no permanent friends
Same Sanusi that was hired by the APC to victimize Goodluck Jonathan and was compensated with as the Emir title have just been disgraced

I have absolutely zero sympathy for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. He was made Emir of Kano ahead of the rightful heir Ado Bayero's son just to spite Goodluck Jonathan and elect Buhari, now the chicken has come home to roost.

Sanusi thought Gandollar was Jonathan.
I have no single sympathy for Sanusi.

We still haven’t forgotten the devious role Sanusi Lamido Sanusi played in removing Former President Jonathan from power.

Sanusi told outright lies against Jonathan’s government, external auditors came, audited accounts & concluded that Sanusi told lies, did Nigerians believe? No. Let him get a taste of his own medicine o jere (in a Yoruba aunty’s voice). 😎

When Sanusi was enjoying his back stab against GEJ, what was he thinking? That he would go scot free? You can now see his measure against the ex-president has fallen back at him. And everyone that was in that plan to oust Jonathan, if you are yet to receive your share wait for it
