Senator Shehu Sani says Nigerians would appreciate if the president could sack those failing in their duties to protect the country instead of the ambiguous promise to “overhaul the security architecture”.
He stated this in a Tuesday tweet in reaction to a comment credited to National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.).
Briefing State House correspondents after a security meeting with the president, Monguno said Buhari reiterated his dissatisfaction over the worsening security situation in the country.
He said the president was, therefore, planning an overhaul of the nation’s security architecture as Nigerians have lost confidence in the security sector and he planned to restore the confidence.

But reacting to the president’s promise to overhaul the security infrastructure, Sani said Nigerians were tired of the empty promises..
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, said the president should go ahead and sack those who failed in their duties of protecting Nigerians against bandits and insurgents and appoint suitable replacements.
He wrote, “Whether overhauling the nation’s security ‘apparatus’ OR redesigning the nation’s security ‘architecture’ OR resetting the nation’s security ‘structure’; Just sack those who failed in their duty to protect the people from bandits & terrorists & replace them with those who will deliver.”
