Vice President, Namadi Sambo has moved to ensure Nigerians begin to enjoy the benefit of power reforms in the country, even as he has read the riot act to contractors handling power distribution projects in the country.
Sambo has issued a 60 day ultimatum to such contractors to complete their projects or risk the termination of their contracts and also cancellation of any further payment.
The vice President has mandated the Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Mr James Olotu to ensure the contractors deliver their projects on time.
Sambo has also ordered PHCN successor companies to submit their plan on provision of electricity meters within one week.
He also stated that government would assist them via the acquisition of transformers on favourable terms. The power companies can buy transformers from the ministry of Power and pay for them over a period of 15 years.
