The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has dismissed claims that the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, is plotting evil against Peter Obi, the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
Amadi attributed the controversy to what he termed the “APC curse,” following Morka’s alleged remarks against Obi.
Peter Obi recently raised concerns about threats to his life, family, and associates after his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in his New Year message. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the former governor of Anambra State questioned whether he had “crossed the line.”
The allegations were fueled by a statement credited to Morka during an interview on Arise TV, where he reportedly said, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times, and he has what’s coming to him. Whatever he gets, he should manage it.”
Reacting to the situation, Amadi shared his disbelief on X, describing Morka as a reasonable and intelligent individual:
“I know @Morka2Felix as reasonable and intelligent. We were graduate course mates. He is polished. I don’t know what got over him. I hear about the @OfficialAPCNg curse. Maybe. But I don’t see him plotting evil against @PeterObi for good-natured criticism. That’s unlike Felix.”
Meanwhile, the Obidient Movement, a support group for Peter Obi, condemned Morka’s remarks. In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the group described the comments as a direct threat to Obi’s life and a dangerous signal of Nigeria’s potential descent into authoritarianism.
The Movement emphasized that the remarks go beyond personal attacks on Obi, reflecting broader concerns about democratic values under the Tinubu administration.
