Sallah: Kwara Govt. assures adequate security

2 Min Read

The Kwara Government has assured Muslims and other residents of the state of safety before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold.

Gold said adequate measures had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free Eid prayer and the Sallah celebrations.

He said as part of the arrangements, security agencies had been fully mobilised to ensure peace and order at all prayer grounds in the state.

The SSG stressed that nobody should exercise any fear or concern about his or her safety during and after the prayer.

He said that details and timing of the Eid prayer would be released by the Committee set up by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.

He also urged the public to ignore “recent negative pronouncements” regarding the forthcoming Eid prayer which he said, tended to portray certain individuals and communities as perpetrators of disorder.

According to the SSG, government has no information linking anyone with plans to disrupt the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

He assured that the state government would do everything possible to uphold the rights of all citizens and residents of Kwara to worship in an atmosphere of peace and security within the ambit of the law.

Gold, therefore, admonished the people to continue to utilise legitimate channels for airing their grievances as guaranteed by the constitution and other relevant laws of the country.

He said the state government would continue to welcome constructive criticisms and feedback from the people. (NAN)
