If reports in certain quarters are to be believed, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki had a premonition of the fracas that broke out on the Eid Prayer Ground in Ilorin, Kwara state on Thursday, when he was reportedly booed and pelted with stones.
According to credible sources, the Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed warned Saraki to steer clear of the state until the cloud occasioned by his travails with the Code of Conduct Tribunal blew over.
Dr. Saraki made himself a subject of ridicule, as Ahmed was said to have told close aides and the Emir of Ilorin, because he failed to listen to security reports admonishing him to stay away during the Eid-el-Kabir holiday, Sahara Reporters claimed.
Reports say security agencies in the state had been aware of public anger against the governor and Dr. Saraki, especially as information circulated among residents about the size of the senator’s assets and personal wealth
Dr Saraki was said to have refused to heed the advice, as he believed the Sallah holidays were an opportunity for him to prove how well-loved he was in his state, especially after the humiliation meted out to him by his CCT travails.
However it will be recalled that Dr. Saraki, through his spokesperson, Yusuph Olaniyonu, released a statement on Friday stating that he was neither booed nor pelted with stones at the Eid Prayer Ground, despite the flurry of purported video footages proving otherwise.
