‘Sack Oghiadomhe and Gulak’ – New PDP states more terms for recconciliation

3 Min Read

With the request for the sack of president Goodluck Jonathan’s Chief of Staff, Mike Oghiadomhe and his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, the New PDP are said to be scheming to  allegedly come up with additional demands despite that the previous ones are still pending.

However this is born out of the result of the demand from other PDP members apart from the rebellious faction that certain key aides have to be removed from the Aso rock.

But it was garnered that the sack of the duo was going to be a major demand apart from the request that Bamanga Tukur must quit as the PDP National Chairman for their “overbearing role on the presidency.”

According to a PDP source, the trio of Oghiadomhe, Gulak and Tukur have been fingered by the New PDP for the worsening coexistence between the presidency and the splinter group.

The source stated; “They are taking that as personal slight and are determined not to tolerate that from the two men, adding that the G-7 governors complained that  Gulak and Oghiadomhe are the major obstacles blocking them from easy access to  the president most times.

The G-7 governors fronting for the New PDP includes Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Wamakko and Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.

And the source stated that “the governors said the aides were in the habit of telling Jonathan about his perceived enemies and how to deal with them instead of helping the President to bridge the gap of distrust that exists between him and his opponents”.

“For how long will party members continue to tolerate this from those who believe access to the President confers all manner of powers on them?” another source had queried.

This, sources revealed the president might succumb to in the interest of the party and most importantly, his reelection ambition.

Previous demands by the New PDP includes: immediate resignation of PDP national chairman Bamanga Tukur; conduct of a fresh national convention against the August 31 mini convention; a commitment from President Jonathan that he would not run for a second term in 2015; recognition of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF); lifting of the Rivers governor’s suspension, reinstatement of the Rivers and Adamawa state chapters of the PDP; a directive by the president to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop investigating some of the governors in the new PDP,their officials and certain leaders in their faction under the chairmanship  of Abubakar Kawu Baraje.
