The leader of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda has reportedly been killed in Aleppo.

The Sunni Islamic jihadist militia fighting against Syrian Government forces confirmed, it is reported, the death of Syrian leader.
Russian state media reports that he was killed by the Syrian Army. Mail Online reports that the death occurred during a gun fight with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). It has reportedly been confirmed by members of the al-Nusra Front.
Images claimed to be of his lifeless body and a bloody head wound have been circulating online.
