Despite Android passing the milestone of 80 per cent market share in the UK this year, it failed to top the most search for gadgets of 2013.
Apple’s iPhone reigned supreme, ranking as the most searched for gadget of 2013. Amazon’sKindle came second while Samsung Galaxy was the third most searched for term.
Apple also did well, recording the only tablet to land in the top ten. The iPad ranked as the fourth most popular search. The iPod also managed to rank in the top ten, albeit in eighth place.
Sony came out on top in the battle of the next generation consoles with the PlayStation 4 proving to be just that little more popular than Microsoft’sXbox One.
The PlayStation 4 was the fifth most popular search in 2013, while the Xbox One was the sixth.
Despite a terrible year – or perhaps because of it – BlackBerry was the seventh most popular tech search term during the year.
There was also good news for Nokia. Nokia Lumia ranked as the ninth most popular search term – ahead of its nearest Android competitors. Though it was closely followed by Sony Xperia, which rounded out the top ten.
Yahoo‘s most searched terms during 2013 was the royal baby. Miley Cyrus’ off the rails actions appear to have worked in garnering attention, with her coming in as the second most searched term during the year.
The top ten most searched for terms of the year are below:
- Royal Baby
- Miley Cyrus
- Susanna Reid
- Andy Murray
- Game of Thrones
- Candy Crush Saga
- Breaking Bad
- Gareth Bale
- False Widow Spider
- Twerking
