Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has made some bold statement about Nigerian politicians as well as the electorates who vote for them.
The APC man, made the assertions while speaking as a panel member at The Nigeria Symposium For Young and Emerging Leaders which was held yesterday.
He stated that the country does not necessarily sanction erring public holders while their electorates do not even bother to hold them responsible.
Speaking further, the immediate former Minister of Transportation stated that he knew politicians who got to the billionaire status just a few months after assuming their roles.
Amaechi reiterated that Nigeria’s wealth was being circulated among only a few Nigerians, and asked politicians to begin to create more jobs in the country.
He progressed, “I know politicians who have suddenly become billionaires, and this is the money that should have been used to build roads and provide amenities that could have been used to improve the lives of citizens. Our politicians have to be clear about how they intend to lift people out of poverty.”
