Incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has won the Governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State.
Akeredolu defeated seven other contestants to clinch votes from almost all the delegates from all the local government areas of the state.
Out of a possible 3,000 votes, Akeredolu got 2,458 votes followed by Olusola Oke with 262 votes and Isaac Kekemeke got 19 votes.
The party has adopted the indirect mode of election that required only delegates from the local government areas despite protests from other candidates.

Three candidates stepped down for the incumbent Governor on Monday, while seven others went ahead to contest against him.
According to a report by Punch, the contestants stepped down for the Governor due to pressure from the National body of the party led by Governors Sani Bello of Niger state.
“There was a serious meeting with the reconciliation committee led by Governor Sani Bello of Niger State with some of the aspirants over the weekend; this is the result of the meeting.” a party source reported.
