Forward Wayne Rooney scored a 62nd minute goal in Manchester United’s 3-0 walloping of his former club Everton in Saturday’s game at Goodison Park.
With this goal, the 29-year-old is now joint second highest goal scorer in the English Premier League with 187 goals, a record he shares with ex-Manchester United forward, Andy Cole. The highest goal scorer in the league is still Alan Shearer, who played majority of his illustrious career at Newcastle United.
The win is also the Red Devils first win at Goodison Park since 2007, having lost at the stadium without as much as scoring a goal for 7 years.
United’s other goals were scored by midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera, in the 18th and 22nd minutes respectively.
With this result, United have moved to second place on the league table with 19 points in 9 games, pending the result of Arsenal’s game against Watford, two points behind table-toppers Manchester City who have 21 points from 9 games.
