Following Ronaldo’s heroics against Juventus in the Champions League as opposed to Messi’s inability to change the game against Roma, an Ex-Barcelona teammate of Messi has stated that he thinks Ronaldo is a more inspiring character.
Alexander Hleb stated this when asked to analyse the two players and the Champions League Quarter-Finals
He said; “Of course Messi is the best in the world,”
“He is the leader of Barcelona.
“He has the mission to help the team in difficult times and he couldn’t create even one goal. He was impotent.
“With all respect to Leo, Ronaldo is a better leader of his team than Messi.”
Alexander Hleb was a Barcelona player for four years after he left Arsenal.
He found playing time hard to come by and was sent out on loan three times to Stuttgart, Birmingham City and Wolfsburg respectively, before completing a move to Krylia Sovetov Samara in Russia.
With Barcelona out, Real Madrid have a real shot at winning the Champions League three years in a row, they just need to navigate a tricky doubleheader against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich over two legs and then they are in for a final that could potentially pit them against Liverpool or Roma.
