Spain national team captain, Sergio Ramos has acknowledged Real Madrid teammate, Ronaldo’s participation at the World Cup as a threat, and hopes the Portugal captain does not perform well at the tournament.
The current Ballon D’Or holder, Ronaldo, is set to play against his club teammates in Sochi on Friday and Ramos prefers to have Ronaldo play with his team rather than playing against him.
In a new conference ahead of the clash, Ramos said, “I’d rather have him on my team than against me. We know how dangerous he can be.
“He ended the season in outstanding shape. He’s a constant threat.
“Not only Ronaldo but the Portugal squad are very talented. There are many players who can hurt you quickly, a lot of skill and safe in their defensive formation.
“We will see a match for all sports lovers. It will be beautiful. I hope Cristiano doesn’t play his best match.”
Following the sack of head coach Julen Lopetegui, Fernando Hierro is expected to ensure that Spain win the first game of the tournament which could be a herculean task as the Portuguese team has “dangerous” players in their squad.
