A week ago, it was reported that Roberto Mancini had agreed to become Italy’s next coach after meeting with the Italian Football Federation Commissioner and agreeing to quit Russian giants, Zenit.
The 53-year-old former Manchester City manager, who became Zenit manager in June 2017, agreed to leave the club to focus on being the coach of Italy’s national football team.
The club said in a statement, “Zenit and Roberto Mancini agree to an early end to the manager’s contract.
“The contract will be terminated by mutual consent without any compensation payable.”
The sports director, Vyacheslav Malafeev told Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency that Maurizio Sarri is a possible replacement for Mancini.
