Robbery Attack Foiled by Police in FCT

2 Min Read

Inhabitants of Abegyi Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory were terrorized by armed robbers on Friday.

The robbery operation which reportedly started at about 1:35am lasted for almost two hours.

According to statements by Mr. Joseph Ayegba, a victim of the attack, the robbers, numbering about seven, scaled tbe fence of the residence and in a bid to scare them off, his dog, a German Shepherd breed, started barking furiously.

He said, “It was around 1:35am when I started hearing my dog barking persistently; so I decided to peep through the window of my bedroom to see what was making him bark and what I saw shocked me.

“I saw people jumping into my compound through my fence. I was able to count about seven of them. They came into my compound and started making all manners of threats asking me to bring all my money, my phones and other belongings.

“I told them I had no money and it was at that point that I managed to call some of my neighbours within the estate. I also triggered the alarm of my car and this got them annoyed and they started vandalising the car, destroying whatever they could see.”

Another resident, Mr. Sanya Ade, said he received a distress call from Ayegba at about 2:05am, adding that he was able to mobilise other neighbours who invited the police.

Ade said policemen from the Bwari Divisional headquarters were able to arrest four of the robbers while others escaped.

Ayegba said he identified two of the suspected robbers in police custody.
